Thanks to all who helped us celebrate AWF's first 100 years!
On July 19, 2014, AWF held its 100th Birthday Celebration at the Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge in the South Valley of Albuquerque from 3:00 p.m. to sunset. The event featured a terrific keynote speech by noted environmental historian Jack Loeffler (author of numerous books, including "Thinking Like a Watershed") at 6:00 p.m., performances by local musicians, a tour of the refuge and the nearby bosque, games and family-friendly activities, and booths from many other environmental and conservation organizations. Nomad BBQ and PopFizz brought out their food trucks and we served free birthday cake from A Cake Odyssey. The entire event was powered by Sacred Power's amazing mobile solar generator.

On July 21, 1914, Aldo Leopold and other local conservationists held the first organizational meeting for the Albuquerque Game Protective Association, which would later come to be known as the Albuquerque Wildlife Federation. One hundred years later, this all-volunteer group is still hard at work protecting wildlife and the wild lands they depend on.
