Topic: Conservation GIS in the Southwest: Adventures of a Solo GIS Consultant
This month’s guest speaker will be Kurt Menke, a certified GIS Professional (GISP) with 16 years of experience. He received a Master’s degree (MA) in Geography from the University of New Mexico in 2000. That same year he founded Bird’s Eye View to apply his expertise with mapping technology on the world’s mounting ecological and social problems. Towards this end, he focuses largely on natural and cultural resources. Kurt has extensive experience modeling potential wildlife habitat and habitat connectivity. He also prides himself in presenting complex information in a map format that is easily comprehended by laypersons and non-specialists. Kurt is the Chair of the Tijeras Canyon Safe Passage Coalition and President of the Grand Canyon Wildlands Council.
